While searching Rotas for Scooby I came across this broken Rota P45R wheel. Don’t have anything against Rotas but couldn’t resist to post another wrecked wheel.

Rotas suck. Why would you buy rotas? lol

Because they’re light and cheap, plus I would bet my life on it that this car was in some kind of accident. Wheels don’t just blow up on their own.

But still, a Volk, Work, or SSR wheel would not deform like that on track duty, much less an accident. You get what you pay for.

I have them on two cars, one of them is an sti. I’ve hit pot holes going over 80 with no issues, lost control and went up a curb during snow and still no issues…all these pictures you see are of an accident or hitting something really really hard

All you guys bashing rotas believe whatever you see online. This was obviously because of a very serious accident. If you do your research, you’ll find that rota actually spent more time developing their wheel than nismo did. So go spend 4x the price to buy any rays wheel.. All you get is the name and a fractionally better wheel. How many of you guys will actually ever track your “track project” anyway?!

if you would spend your time researching then you WOULD know that nismo does not research for their wheels. nismo wheels are made by RAYS ENGINEERING who really SPEND their time on RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT!!!
if rota researches that much, why dont they come up with their own design? shit wheels are made of aluminum that wheel looks like it was made out of glass, wheels dont break they bend in accidents. do your homework or shut up. buy the real deal or keep it stock.

I hate ROTA! I had a set crack on me – nothing like this – but my ‘Boosts’ cracked right where the valvestem was and broke. Never again…

rotas are philippine made. they don’t come up with their own wheel designs? how original is that? when i was in the philippines, everyone was running these wheels.

Here’s a post from the owner of this wheel

“hydroplanned in to median and grindded off the pass side of my back bumper, now has holes in it lol. heavy traffic and i didnt wanna hit another car and didnt wanna scraped up the whole side of the car so flicked the wheel to the right (while im sliding backwards facing traffic) and slammed into a drainage thing popped up maybe a few inches in the air and slammed hard on the ground. had a section of the freeway closed off for me so i can limp the car off the freeway. We and my gf came out with no cuts, scrapes, bruises just shakened up. All of this happened at around 60-70mph”

Next time you post a wheel image like this, post the full story. Rota Wheels do not just break like this, it takes a severe impact.

With every1 talking soo highly of Rays I thought I would mention that i drive a g35. It came with the optional Ray’s forged 19″ rims. The vehicle has ~50,000 miles on it, and I just had a front rim crack on me. Not sure why? But going 35 and hitting a very minor pothole should not do this. I now question the so-called strength of these wheels…
